The ET series introduced in 1996 to coincide with Vespa_s 50th anniversary was a blend of classic scooter styling, proven technology (such as a return to a pressed-steel load bearing monocoque design) and advanced features like the CVT automatic transmission with torque converter and electronic theft protection.
The 125cc 4-stroke engine, as found here in the ET4 model, has forced air cooling system and CDI electronic ignition with variable timing. The wheels are of cast aluminium and the brakes consist of a 200mm stainless steel disc at the front and a drum at the rear. The ET4 was characterised by a technologically advanced design which placed particular emphasis on comfort, safety and minimal environmental impact.
