When introduced in 1956, the 'Hundred Six' was a very different sports car to the four cylinder model it replaced and took Donald Healey's design to a new level of performance and competitiveness in International motorsport events, from races to bitumen rallies.
The early models were occasional four-seaters, but the BN6 introduced in 1958 reintroduced the two seater bodywork in the same long wheelbase - a look that many enthusiasts believe makes this model the most desirable and collectable of the Big Healeys.
The BN6 also introduced the more powerful 2639cc six-port' engine, that made the model the mainstay of BMC's successful race and rally programme in the late 1950s and early 1960s. A total of 4,150 BN6 models were produced before the BN6 was replaced in June 1959 with the Austin-Healey 3000.
