The radical new fourth-generation Camaro made its debut as a 1993 model, the aerodynamic body initially available on as a coupe and many of the compound curved panels were made from moulded composite plastics. Underneath, the Camaro retained the traditional front-engine/rear drive layout albeit with revised chassis structure to improve rigidity along with new front suspension and was available either with a base V6 or the same LT1 350-cid V8 found in the Corvette. Buyers choosing the classic small-block V8 had a choice of a four-speed automatic transmission or the option of a Borg-Warner T56 six-speed manual. Changes to the automatic transmission and the introduction of sequential fuel injection further improved the Camaro in 1994-1995 along with better standard equipment like keyless entry, CD player with coaxial speakers and floodlight interior lighting. The 1994 model year also saw the reintroduction of a convertible version after an absence of one year, sold only with the LT1 engine and four-speed automatic transmission package.
