The legendary 250 GTO was the ultimate dual-purpose Ferrari, equally at home on road or track and became the most successful GT car around from the time of its introduction in 1962. Blessed with stunning performance from the Colombo-designed 3-litre V12 and achingly beautiful lines, the 250 GTO is an automotive icon and is today one of the most coveted - and valuable - cars in the world. With values now in the millions of dollars and total production of just 36 examples, ownership of the 250 GTO is for the privileged few. However another genuine classic - the somewhat more affordable Datsun Z-Car - has very similar basic dimensions and a number of high quality replicas of the Ferrari 250 GTO have been constructed using them as a base. The Z-Car is blessed with a smooth six-cylinder engine, well set-up suspension and rack-and-pinion steering to ensure outstanding roadholding and sparkling performance - qualities unsurprisingly associated with the Ferrari it now closely resembles.
