The Mustang has appeared in numerous movies, including the now legendary Steve McQueen film "Bullitt" and the cult classic "Gone in 60 Seconds". When legendary producer Jerry Bruckheimer remade "Gone in 60 Seconds" in 2000, the film's makers decided to replace 'Eleanor', the 1971 Mach I used in the original, with a heavily customised Shelby GT500. Indeed, 'Eleanor' was the real star of the film, a dressed-to-kill '67 Shelby GT500 with modified fibreglass front end, bonnet, flared guards, side skirts with side pipes and bootlid designed by hot-rod designer and illustrator Steve Stanford and mocked-up by legendary rod builder Chip Foose. Other changes included Schmidt 17-inch alloy wheels on Goodyear P245/40ZR17 Eagle tyres and lowered suspension all round, along with PIAA driving lights. No less than eleven examples of the Shelby were built for filming, including a sectioned car for close-ups with Nicolas Cage, and the company which made the cars - Cinema Vehicle Services - offered the body panels, wheel and other components necessary to turn any '67 or '68 fastback into a replica 'Eleanor'.
