The Electra 225 represented Buick's top of the line model for 1964, utilising GM's C-Body with unique Buick styling touches like the fender skirts, thin vertical tail lights, wing vents and die-cast grille. The Electra 225 was available in sedan, pillarless sedan, hardtop sedan, sports coupe or convertible configurations and all were equipped with an exclusive level of trim - closed cars were upholstered in vinyl and brocade while leather was used on the convertible. The long list of standard equipment included power steering and brakes, two-speed electric windscreen wipers, foam padded seats, an electric clock and two-way power seats. Powering the not inconsiderable mass riding on the Electra's 126-inch wheelbase was a 425-cid V8 developing 340bhp with a Turbo 400 automatic transmission as standard. As the company's catchcry in period advertising went "Wouldn't you rather have a Buick?" and in the case of the exclusive Electra 225 the answer was most definitely yes!
