Despite killing off production of the Dart SP250 in 1960 when Jaguar took over the Daimler, Sir William Lyons was quick to recognize the potential of Edward Turner's smooth, flexible and compact 2.5-litre V-8 engine and from 1962 the unit appeared in a rebadged version of the popular Mark II Jaguar sports saloon.
The Daimler 2.5-litre V-8 makes sense as a practical classic today, the engine being relatively trouble-free and there is no shortage of parts or expertise for the marque in Australia.
The Daimler was always a fine performer and this is one 1960s classic saloon capable of being driven today without drama.
