The 1928 Chevrolet National Model AB was a larger car than the previous year's offering, boasting a 107-inch wheelbase, full crown wings and a higher cowl line to provide an altogether more substantial appearance. Powering the Model AB was the unburstable four-cylinder engine of 171-cid, developing a healthy 35hp at 2200rpm and driving the rear wheels through a three-speed floor-shift gearbox. The 1928 Chevrolet was the first to boast brakes on all four wheels and other innovations included Alemite chassis lubrication, an indirectly lit instrument panel and thermostat. A wide choice of coachwork was offered, ranging from open roadsters, tourers and cabriolets to coupes, coach and sedans. Total production of Chevrolets for 1928 was 1,193,212 cars, of which around 70,000 were built in Canada - some of which were exported to Australia.
