When introduced in 1988, the original BMW K1 came as a complete surprise to many BMW enthusiasts and received a controversial welcome. With its new 100HP in-line four cylinder, four-valve engine, Paralever suspension system and wind tunnel developed semi-enclosed fairing that produced a drag factor of just 0.38, it did everything but look like a traditional BMW motorcycle!But its performance soon quietened the disbelievers, as with a tested top speed of over 270km/h and acceleration from 0-100km/h in around three seconds, its performance is right up there with the best of the superbikes.
