Description
The Harley-Davidson Fat Boy was all about style, with Willie G.Davidson's boys making sure the fashionable biker image of the 1990s was backed by a range of seriously good looking bikes and the Fat Boy was arguably the best of all. Based on the Softail, a model embodying the ?Retro-Tech? philosophy adopted by Harley-Davidson, where the classic Harley style comes with the latest in modern technology under the skin. So the Fat Boy has the 80-cid air-cooled V-twin engine (later enlarged to 88-cid) with electronic V-Fire III ignition, five-speed gearbox, Gates Kevlar Poly Chain belt drive and disc brakes all round, along with its own unique styling touches. These included two fully cast solid disc wheels with 16-inch tyres, all-steel front mudguard and a chrome-dipped shotgun-style dual exhaust system. Although it remained a healthy seller in the Harley range for several years, production of the Fat Boy series was always limited, virtually guaranteeing future classic status.
