Description
The 1000SEL wasn't a regular order Mercedes-Benz. The 1000SELs weren't even produced by Mercedes-Benz; the cars were aftermarket conversions based on the 500SEL and 560SEL (W126) S-class. The cars started out as factory-fresh S-classes and were modified mostly in Germany and the UK, by tuning and coach building companies like Chameleon, Kugok, Robert Jankel Design, Styling-Garage, Trasco and Vantagefield. Variations on the 1000SEL-theme were even given names like 1001SEL, 5000GFG. The 1000SEL Mercedes limousine was fitted with a leather interior. The centre console that runs through the rear passenger area is in most cases finished in the finest wood veneers and fitted with multiple compartments to store a champagne cooler, TV, high-end HiFi-Stereo and other options.
