Description
Following a long line of Chevrolet pickups, the second generation of the full-size 'C' (for 2-wheel drive) and 'K' (for 4-wheel drive) pickups were introduced in 1967, sporting a modernised design that was intended to pitch the workhorses more as everyday transport. 2-wheel drive C-10s (half-tonne) and 20s (three-quarter tonne) housed coil-sprung rear ends which vastly improved road manners, though the traditional leaf springs were still available. One-tonne C-30s maintained the more robust leaf-sprung arrangement. These trucks could be ordered with a range of torquey, large-capacity six and eight cylinder motors, the V-8s initially available in 283ci and 327ci guise with the 396ci big-block option coming on-stream in 1968 (when the 283 was replaced with a 327). By 1969 Chevy pickups could house the legendary 350ci motor. Engines were backed with a variety of transmissions ranging from 3 and 4-speed manuals to 2 and 3-speed automatics.
