Description
The Rolls-Royce 20/25HP was introduced in 1929, taking the concept of the 'small Rolls' from the earlier 20HP and further refining it. The six-cylinder motor was enlarged to 3669cc on a 4.6:1 compression ratio, the result being a top speed in excess of 60mph. The motor also incorporated a cross-flow cylinder head.Though more powerful, the initial 20/25 shared the same chassis as the last of the 20HP's, and again supplied only in bare-chassis form, allowing the buyer to choose their coachbuilder. The 1929 model year saw both models built concurrently for a time before the 20/25HP took over full-time. By 1932 there was a longer chassis which, combined with a further increase to a 5.75:1 compression ratio, a synchro-gearbox and improved road holding, made the later series cars a better driving proposition.
