Though 1961 saw the introduction of the fifth generation Chev Bel Air, 1962 saw bodily changes, with only the door panels of the previous year remaining. Still classed as a full-sized model, Hardtops, Sedans and Wagons could be had, along with the latest small block Chev V8- the legendary 327ci, in two states of tune. The small block complimented the 409ci big block, while the cheaper 283ci V8 and 235ci inline six were the base options. The interior received fresh treatment with full length carpeting making a welcome return. Around 365,000 Bel Airs were produced for the 1962 model year.
