BMW introduced the R90 motorcycle in 1973 as the headline act of the new 'Slash 6' series, replacing the previous /5 range. The '90' in the model designation referred to the engine capacity ('900', actually 898cc) of the S and R90/6 variants- a horizontally-opposed OHV Twin cylinder. The /6 range delivered several vital upgrades for BMW, wincluding the adoption of a five-speed gearbox and front disc brake. It was also the first BMW bike without a kick-starter. The R90/6 was produced until 1976 and today presents as a stylish classic bike with some modern refinements.
