The CL Charger was the last Charger to be made by Chrysler Australia. Introduced in 1976 it had a redesigned four-headlight front-end which gave it a more mature look that mimicked that of the Valiant sedans. The base-model XL variant was dropped from the range meaning the 770 was the sole public model offering. 245 and 265cu in straight-sixes were available (the 215 being dropped) while the 318cu in V8 also soldiered on. Four-speed manual or three-speed automatic transmissions were available across the range. The last CL Charger was completed in October 1978, the late-build cars finding homes in early1979.
