The long-running Ford 'Country Squire' Wagon range was initially introduced in 1951, surviving through seven generations and into the 1990s before being discontinued. Generally considered to be the premium full-size wagon of the Ford range during its run, it was generally powered by a range of V8s. The sixth-generation Squire was released in 1973 and continued to be based on the LTD sedans. This was a massive car, over 5.7 metres in length, and faux wood panelling still dominated its styling. 400 and 460ci V8s were the initial available motors though a 351ci was later added. In 1975 Country Squires received hidden headlamps to further differentiate it as the premier wagon in the Ford range.
