Description
It is perhaps impossible to list off all the possible combinations of body styling that adorned Ford's late twenties Model A chassis. Introduced in 1927, a four-year model run saw well over 4.5 million of these cars produced. Coupes, trucks, wagons, phaetons, roadsters, sedans...the permutations are endless. The bare chassis was supplied with a 201ci 'L-Head' 4-cylinder motor matched to a 3-speed manual transmission and assisted in Ford recovering its market share after several GM products had eroded the previous Model T's advantage. Production in such numbers meant that several plants worldwide were utilised- from Ford's home in Michigan through Canada, Argentina, the UK and the recently opened Geelong plant in Victoria, Australia. The name 'Huckster' is a reference to someone who sells small goods, and several Model A's were made into 'Huckster' vans, fitted with enclosed rear sections behind the driving cabin. From this section the worker could sell their produce or product directly from the vehicle.
