The Swiss Condor motorcycle company was born out of a partnership between Edouard Scheffer and Victor Donzelot, which first produced bicycles for the Swiss military in 1893. By 1899, their logo incorporated a Condor bird and soon after their premises and business became known as 'Condor-Werke AG'. Otto Fricker, who would become Scheffer's son-in-law, oversaw motorcycle production from 1901 and debuted a lightweight 1.5hp runabout at this time. In ensuing years, a variety of external engines were used in Condor bikes. Incredibly, the company lasted through to the 1990s building both civilian and government-issue bikes.
