The DD6 is of course the top of the line in the Jaguar-Daimler fleet. This model was sold between 1993-1994 having been redesignated the XJ81. It was the 1st model to have the new upgraded 6.0 litre engine (the prior models used the H.E. 5.3 litre engine. The 6.0l engine was the pinnacle of Jaguar engines and is now seen as a classic. The reason for the increase from 5.3l to 6.0l was to allow for the addition of new pollution control add-ons. In 1995 the body was remodelled again and designated the X305. This was when the headlight style was changed back to round headlights away from the very stylish square shape popular at that time. It is understood that there were no more than 12-14 of this XJ81 model ever brought into Australia by Jaguar in 1993-4.

In the 1990s, the DD6 was the car of choice of the British Prime Minister John Major and his other govt ministers.
It was fondly dubbed the Lear-Jet of the highway. The car was designed for economical highway cruising in luxury and this is what it does best.
