The Morgan Motor Company is a family-owned British motor car manufacturer founded in 1910 by Henry Frederick Stanley Morgan. Based in Malvern Link, Worcestershire, Morgan produces around 1300 cars per year, all assembled by hand. Morgan cars are unusual because wood has been used in their construction for a century, for the chassis of several early models and still in the 21st century for the body shell. Its earliest cars were famously 3-wheelers and were built in some form or other from 1911 to 1952. It was in 2011 that Morgan announced the production revival of its iconic 3-wheeler, in a modernised form but fundamentally faithful to the original concept. The modern 3-wheeler began manufacture in 2012 and continues to the present day. It’s powered by a 1.9 litre S&S ohv V-twin cylinder engine driving the rear wheel through a Mazda-sourced five-speed transmission. With its compact two-seater body and basic appointments, the reborn 3-wheeler weighs around 550kg, so performance is lively. The Morgan three-wheeler can be registered in some markets as a motorcycle.
