The Cadillac Series 341 was built between September 1927 and mid-1929, as the successor to the 314 model. Technically, the Series 341 was largely new. The wheelbase of all regular models was extended to 140 inches (355.6 cm), the frame now sat over the rear leaf spring packs, the rear track was widened by 5 cm, the front drum brakes increased in diameter, and the front seats made adjustable.
Cadillac created a new V8, the 341, for 1928. It was a 341 cu in (5.6 L) engine and produced 90 hp (67 kW). The same year saw the introduction of the synchromesh transmission. This engine was used in the Series 341 and 341B cars of 1928 and 1929. On offer were 15 cheaper variants, with open and closed bodies from Fisher, now acquired by General Motors’ body shop, as well as 60 different bodies from Fleetwood, also now owned by GM. The changes to the model year 1929 were mostly cosmetic, but also mechanically operated duplex brakes and a three-speed manual gearbox with synchro were introduced. Among the Fisher body styles was the seven-seat limousine, as here.
