1949 Chevrolet Styleline Sedan (RHD)

Description

The Deluxe was a trim line of Chevrolet sedans marketed from 1941 to 1952, and its volume seller during the 1940s. At first available only as a four-door sedan, the model line grew to include a fastback two-door "aero sedan" and other body styles over its lifespan. The original series ran from 1941 to 1948, after which a restyled body was introduced for 1949, running through to 1952. The Deluxe range was Chevrolet's sales leader, with the Styleline six-passenger sedan (as here) the cheapest variant in the line-up. Power came from the old 216ci ‘Blue Flame’ six-cylinder engine producing 90bhp. Transmission choices were a three-speed manual and, later, an optional two-speed automatic. These cars were transitional for Chevrolet as General Motors moved from quite conservative styling immediately after the war to something with more boldness in the ‘50s, to reflect the increasing confidence of the United States in this period.
