1985 Nissan 300C V-30E SGL Sedan

Known in its Japanese domestic market as the Nissan Cedric, the 300C was the export version of the Y30 series produced between 1984 and 1987 as both a luxury sedan and wagon. Only the sedan was imported into Australia as its local marquee model and it was powered here by a 3.0 litre version of Nissan’s first mass-produced V6 engine. A five-speed manual or four-speed automatic were available in some markets (autos only here) and this largest of Nissan luxury models was trimmed in velour moquette cloth, featured adjustable steering wheel, power steering, air conditioning, tinted electric windows, a LW/MW/FM stereo/cassette sound system, electric seat adjustment and so on. It was aimed squarely at the big Euro luxury barges from Mercedes Benz (S Class) and BMW (7 Series) but made little impact in markets outside Japan. Here in Australia it’s now a very rare sight on our roads but with the increased recent interest in Japanese models, offers something a little different for the enthusiast.
