Maserati’s Tipo M145 was produced between 2007 and 2019, in both GranTurismo (coupe) and GranCabrio (convertible) form. The GranTurismo/GranCabrio platform was derived from the M139 platform of Maserati Quattroporte V, which utilised double-wishbone front and rear suspension, initially with a 4.2-litre V8 engine developed in conjunction with Ferrari. A better equipped variant known as the GranTurismo S was revealed at the 2008 Geneva Motor Show with an enlarged 4.7-litre V8 engine, shared this time with the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione. At its introduction it was the most powerful road-legal Maserati offered for sale (excluding the homologation special MC12). The 324kW engine was mated to a six-speed automated manual gearbox built by Graziano Transmissioni, located in a transaxle configuration, and shared with the Ferrari F430. The S featured new side skirts, unique 20-inch wheels not available on the standard GranTurismo, a small boot lip spoiler, and black headlight clusters in place of the original silver, while options included the Skyhook adaptive suspension, new exhaust system, upgraded Brembo brakes, and various leather and Alcantara trim choices. According to the statisticians, a total of 28,805 GranTurismos and 11,715 GranCabrios were manufactured before production ended in 2019.
