The Yamaha YZ80 was a two-stroke motocross dirt bike aimed at younger riders produced between 1974 and 2001. It was powered by a 79cc two-stroke single cylinder, with a 49x42cm bore & stroke, an 8.1:1 compression ratio and a Mikuni VM26SS carburettor. The bike used telescopic front folks and a swing arm with monoshock at rear, and all units produced in 1974 and 1975 were finished in Competition Yellow, a colour that continued to be popular throughout the model’s life. The YZ became known as a good bike for more experienced youngsters due to its abundance of power at high rpm and good suspension but was criticised for having too little low end and midrange power for most riders.
