The MYNX is a true one-of-a-kind type motor car. Built by Queenslander Alf Kalkaus to his own design, though the styling is strongly reminiscent of a Morgan Plus 8. The fibreglass body sits on a fabricated steel chassis, built by Alf, into which went the major mechanicals components of an EL-model Ford Falcon. The engine was a 5.0 litre V8. The steering column is Ford Laser. Front suspension is a mix of EL components and top custom wishbones, while at the back it’s a parallel trailing arm design with coil-over shockers. There’s Falcon disc brakes front and rear, while the wheels are 100-spoke knock-on Galaxy chrome wires. Alf built the small number of MYNX cars under the Individually Constructed Vehicle (IVC) registration scheme, utilising several components supplied by Austuff Manufacturing, of Hervey Bay. Cars were fully Australian Design Rules (ADR) compliant.
