Introduced in 1996, the Lotus Elise was the savior of the company founded in the 1950s by Colin Chapman.
Featuring a unique bonded extruded aluminium chassis with a tuned and mid-mounted 1.8 litre Rover K Series engine 'borrowed. From the based model MGF, the Elise immediately fulfilled all Lotus expectations of a lightweight, well-performing sports car with exceptional roadholding and braking.
Creature comforts were minimal, with occupants virtually seated on the floor, while weather protection was almost an afterthought, but the rewards of driving the nimble Elise easily outweighed these considerations and have given it a reputation as one of the purest sports cars on the market.
