Launched initially as a concept bike by the newly formed Ducati Design, the MH900 Evoluzione combined modern technology with a retro racer look - the red and silver fairing was styled after Mike Hailwood's 1978 Isle of Man TT winner. Due to overwhelming public demand, the limited-edition MH900E was offered for public sale on the internet on New Year's Day in 2000 - within the first half hour 500 had been snapped up and the remaining 1,500 were all sold three weeks later, ensuring it's status as an instant classic. The legendary Desmo twin-cylinder SOHC engine was mated to a six-speed gearbox and suspended in a steel trellis frame. Developing 75 bhp at 8000 rpm, with a compression ratio of 9.2:1, the motor employed the latest computer-controlled engine management system. With classic styling and modern performance, the MH900E remains a thrilling riding experience and is certain to continue appreciating in years to come.
