The Cadillac Eldorado Brougham was produced from 1957 to 1960 in three models.
The Series 1 (1957 and 1958) Eldorado Brougham was the result of several design studies, including the Eldorado Brougham Town Car, which previewed the Brougham body style. It was introduced in January 1957 as the top model of the brand and cost Cadillac $10,000 more to build, than it sold for! Compared to the regular Cadillac limousines of 1957, the Eldorado Brougham was characterised by its roof made of polished stainless steel, its rear hinged ‘suicide’ rear doors and tail fins which anticipated the designs of the next year's regular Cadillac models. The Brougham’s equipment was more extensive than any other in the range with power-assistance for doors, bonnet and boot, and seat adjustment. For the passenger there was a perfume vaporizer and a small handkerchief dispenser in the glove compartment! There were 125 different colour combinations available. Mechanically, the Eldorado Brougham differed primarily by a modified, shorter by 89 mm frame and standard air suspension, while power came from a 6 litre V8 with two 4-barrel carburettors in 1957, upgraded to three 2-barrel carburettors the following year.
